A Thoughtfully Run Thamesville Homestead
The 4 Acre Farm is a small homestead in Thamesville, Ontario, serving Chatham-Kent and surrounding communities through an active farm stand and a growing vision for future farm experiences.
Our approach is rooted in care for animals and land alike. We use intentional, symbiotic farming practices that allow different parts of the farm to support one another, from quail living beneath greenhouse benches to pasture management, gardens, pollinators, and small-batch food preparation.
Today, the farm stand offers products such as eggs, quail eggs, sourdough bread, preserves, baked goods, and whole frozen chicken as availability allows. In the future, the Cat Cabin, Quail Greenhouse, and broader farm tours will create new ways for visitors to connect with farm life.
The farm is built around making thoughtful use of a small property. Chickens, quail, rabbits, honey bees, gardens, fruit trees and hay each play a different role, and we continue learning how those parts can support one another. We are not trying to imitate a large commercial farm. We want to care for the land and animals responsibly, produce useful food and share what is available with our local Thamesville and Chatham-Kent community.
